Turf reduction is a good way to lower your time out working in the yard. Jerry and Kathy Live in Hudson. Their beautiful waterfront home has a lush green St. Augustine lawn around it. Their problem was that there was just too much… too much to mow, too much to line trim, too much to water… you get the idea. Jerry contacted me and I met with him and Kathy to go over their ideas. They too had done much homework prior to making a call to a professional company to come and help them with a plan.
It became clear from the first moment that these clients knew exactly what they wanted. They wanted to trade some of their beautiful lawn for an equally beautiful garden. I made a suggestion to run a path through the middle so foot traffic was possible without stepping on plants. They both liked the idea and that became the focal point. Plants were grouped together as doing this makes it easier to manage. The end result was a lush lawn with a beautiful garden in it. The amount of lawn removed could cover most average lots a couple of times… and that is how much less maintenance they will have to do!
Turf Reduction as a Grassless Option
If your lawn looks as nice as Jerry and Kathy’s but you have too much of it, you may consider turf reduction as a way to save your costs of maintenance. St Augustine grass requires so much attention to keep this healthy and beautiful. These clients spent so much time in their lawn to keep it this nice. After the reduction, their focus on the yard is still more focused on the lawn. They still kept a large portion of their grass, but the turf reduction made a huge difference and I’m sure by now they are able to notice the savings.
